TELLURIDE, Colo. Nov. 27, 2004 - A winter storm warning is in effect with 18"-24" of snow expected to hit Telluride through Sunday afternoon. The new snow is bringing about the earliest opening of Prospect Bowl ever. "This is the best snow start in 20 years," said Ski Patrol Director, Gary Richard.
Beginning Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004 lifts 10, 11, 12 (Prospect Bowl Lift) and 13 will be open in addition to lifts 1, 4, 6, and 7 (access only.) Jeff Proteau, VP of Mountain Operations responded by saying, "we are lucky to have such a strong team. The condensed time frame to open Prospect Bowl has pushed the staff incredibly hard." The original opening date for Prospect Bowl was set for mid-December.
Prospect Bowl opened in 2002 adding 733 acres to the Telluride Ski Resort. The bowl usually opens in mid-December, however the incredible amount of snowfall will provide plenty of powder turns this weekend.
