You have to admire the logic behind building America’s first snow dome in the swamps of New Jersey: no mountains to compete with. Developers broke ground this fall on the massive $1.3 billion Xanadu project. Located on 106 acres at the Meadowlands, it’s billed as the “ultimate sports, leisure, family entertainment and shopping complex.” Plans call for six acres boasting 150 vertical feet. The dome will host year-round skiing and boarding, a ski lodge and several ski shops. If your legs need a break, you can always try indoor skydiving, catch a flick at the 26-screen movieplex or take the kids for a stroll through “It’s Sugar!” the largest candy store in the nation-which will feature a 30-foot chocolate waterfall. Might be best to stick to the hill.
