United Airlines Introduces New LAX to Bozeman

BIG SKY, MTSummer 2008 – Big Sky Resort is proud to announce a new seasonal weekend non-stop flight from Los Angeles (LAX) to Bozeman starting June 7, 2008, in a partnership with United Airlines.

Seasonal weekend service to San Francisco has been very popular with customers and its success was instrumental in United’s decision to initiate Los Angeles service this summer and next winter. This announcement culminates an effort by the Big Sky area to expand service to California and will benefit all of Southwest Montana. The agreement for the summer will provide Saturday-only round trip flights through August 30 with the winter schedule to be determined.

The flights were arranged with Big Sky Resort negotiating the terms of the guarantees to introduce the new service to the area. Big Sky Resort works with partners in the community to help shoulder the potential costs of airline guarantees. This model has been successful in recent years with Big Sky attracting flights from Atlanta, Chicago and San Francisco. Big Sky originally started 15 years ago with attracting Seattle service to Bozeman, which has since shifted to scheduled air.

“The success of the San Francisco flight as well as our other non-stops makes Big Sky an easy choice with airlines looking to expand routes” said Meg O’Leary, Big Sky Resort director of sales and marketing. “Big Sky’s summers attract national conferences that are strengthened with additional flights, and with our proximity to Yellowstone National Park, we’re the perfect base camp with a great variety of lodging options.”

To book airline tickets into Bozeman, guests may call Big Sky Central Reservations at 1-800-548-4486 and be connected to the air department. Guests may also shop and book lodging and vacation packages on-line at www.bigskyresort.com.

Gallatin Field Airport will become the only airport in Montana with non-stop service to San Francisco and Los Angeles. Gallatin Field Airport (BZN), near Bozeman, is the seventh busiest airport in the Pacific Northwest, providing access to Big Sky Resort, 45 miles away. With this addition, Bozeman will add to its non-stop winter service from San Francisco, Minneapolis, Salt Lake City, Denver, Seattle, Chicago, and Boise, and seasonal non-stop service from Detroit and Atlanta.
