Stratton Mountain, VT March 3, 2004 – With a $20,000 cash purse, expect a full slate of top competitors, including Dynastar and Stratton team athletes, at the East’s biggest freeskiing event: the 2004 VT Freeskiing Open set for March 25-28 with Slopestyle and Superpipe competitions at the Sun Bowl and a new Big Air invitational in the Power Park on Suntanner.
“The course is there. The prize money is there. The names are there. It’s gonna get bigger and bigger,” said Garrett Brittain at 2003’s inaugural VT Open. “It’s great to get an event like this going in the East.”
Dave Crichton, Liam Downey, Andy Woods and Rory Will are among thoseathletes who have pre-qualified for the 2004 Vermont Freeskiing Open atStratton.
Registration, practice and qualifying rounds begin on Thursday, March 25. Friday features the Freeskier Welcome Party from 6 – 10 p.m. at the Sun Bowl. Slopestyle is set for Saturday followed by a Big Air Invitational Exhibition at 3:30 p.m. in the Suntanner terrain park. Sunday’s Superpipe practice opens at 9 a.m. with finals set for 1:30 p.m.
