Chestnut Mountain Resort

added additional snowmaking and greatly expanded its rental operation with 250 more snowboards.

Ski Snowstar

doubled the size of its lodge for better guest service. Some of the features include a group check-in facility, locker rooms and expanded ticketing.

IOWASeven Oaks Recreation added a 210-foot-vertical-drop snowtubing arena to its ski area.
Sundown Mountain Ski Area added 5 acres to expand its learning facilities. The new area will include a 200-foot-long Magic Carpet conveyor lift and additional snowmaking.

Big Powderhorn Mountain expanded its snowmaking to cover 90 percent of the slopes and enlarged its Powderkeg and Oxbow terrain parks. For kids, Big Powderhorn’s Kinderschool has moved to new facilities that include both a chairlift and handletow for beginners.
Blackjack Ski Resort has a new kid’s-size halfpipe in the works, as well as a groomed gladed area off the back of the mountain called the Bear’s Den.
Marquette Mountain will offer two new trails, Whoop-Dee and Sidewinder. These trails are not terrain parks, but host tons of terrain changes such as dips, banks, bumps and drop-offs.
Mt. Bohemia has opened 15 new glade runs on the north side of the mountain. Ski Brule built a new tubing park with tow.

Bittersweet Ski Resort is increasing the length of its existing chairlift to service its newly expanded terrain park.
Boyne Highlands has new ski-in/ski-out condos called Alpine Village located at the base of North Peak Pass.
Boyne Mountain has added nine new runs, ranging from beginner to advanced levels, and added a triple chairlift near Disciples Ridge on the north side of the mountain. Boyne has also expanded its terrain park and added a tubing park in the Top Notch area. Considerable work has been completed on Boyne Mountain’s new slopeside village called the Mountain Grand Lodge and Spa.
Crystal Mountain broke ground this summer on the new Kinlochen Lodge and Clubhouse, a project that begins a 10-year, $60-million expansion-plan, including a pedestrian village, a spa and 10 to 12 additional runs.
Mt. Holly has a newly designated terrain area with lift service called Slalom.
Nub’s Nob’s popular demo center has also been expanded over the summer and will feature more than 125 pairs of new high-performance shaped skis.
Skyline Ski and Country Club has re-sculpted the terrain on three runs to allow moguls to build. In addition, it has constructed a snowboard terrain park.
Sugar Loaf Resort is reopening for the winter. Closed last year, the resort known for its “Awful Awful” ski run, will welcome skiers once again.
Timber Ridge is relocating and expanding its terrain park, forming a new tubing hill and creating a new ski patrol facility.

Buck Hill Ski Area added new ski school facilities, including a Wonder Carpet learning lift.
Giants Ridge Golf and Ski Resort will feature the Mountain Dew Free Ride Series, starting in December. The Series allows boarders and skiers to participate in a different event each month throughout the season.
Steeplechase Ski Area is completing construction on triple chairlift No. 1. The area opened its doors last season.

Cascade Mountain Ski Area has installed the first fully automatic snowmaking system in the Midwest. In addition, the area has increased the size of Rob’s Roost Lodge.
Christie Mountain added a new “most difficult” gladed trail. Two new log cabins were built as the beginning of on-site lodging at the area.
Grand Geneva Resort and Spa’s
Mountaintop Ski Area is adding a Wonder Carpet conveyor lift for its learning area.
Granite Peeak at Rib Mountain State Park added two chairlifts and is opening up a new section of the mountain with trails and gladed runs that will be served by snowmaking. Trails will be lighted.
Sunburst Ski Area has added another Wonder Carpet learning lift, widening the learning area.
