Green is a color typically associated with the coming of spring, so it might seem like an odd color choice for winter ski apparel. No matter, says Sport Obermeyer’s Allison Scott, who thinks the new color trend is in response to the metallic and blue “ice” tones popular in the past few years. “When you’re dealing with something as cold as outdoor sports, why put on clothing that looks cold? People are gravitating toward warmer colors like green,” Scott says. True, indeed: Almost every collection for the ’99-’00 season¿from outerwear to skis and boots¿has some variety of green.
