Winter Park, CO Feb. 25–The Denver Post reported in its’ Feb. 24, issue that Winter Park Resort, CO, may miss their annual payment to the Denver Parks and Recreation Department this year. The $2.3 million payment is part of a lease agreement between the city of Denver and the resort for the land.

According to the Post, the contract between Denver and Winter Park allows for one missed payment to be tolerated under certain conditions. Since 1994, the resort has paid the Denver Parks and Recreation Department more than $13 million. This would be Winter Park’s first missed payment.

The Post quoted Winter Park President and CEO Gary DeFrange, as saying the chances of making the payment were “unlikely.”

It is not clear how this will effect Winter Park’s future payments or the Parks and Recreation Department’s budget.
