Boston, MA, April 26 (AP)–Winter weather made an encore appearance Wednesday with a mix of rain, sleet and snow.
With temperatures dipping to 35 degrees, early morning rain turned to large, wet flakes that fell across the state. The record low for this date is 28 degrees, set in 1919.
Snow was not expected to accumulate in most areas.
“The atmosphere is pretty cold,” National Weather Service meteorologist Tom Fair said. “But this is not unprecedented.”
Still, the season has been chilly and wet enough to dishearten even a veteran like Fair. A native of Connecticut, he was daydreaming today about retiring to Florida in 14 months.
“We won’t even have full leaves until about May 12,” he said. “At the end of August, they start falling off.”
