St. Moritz, Switzerland, Dec. 15 (AP)–A women’s downhill training session in preparation for the weekend’s speed events was canceled Wednesday because of poor weather.
Severely reduced visibility made the descent dangerous, forcing race officials to interrupt the practice run after only four starters.
Switzerland’s Monika Tschirky, the first starter, injured a shoulder when she tumbled off course and wound up in the safety netting. Team officials were unsure whether Tschirky would compete in the weekend’s downhill doubleheader or super-G.
The women have yet to hold a training run for Friday’s and Saturday’s downhills.
Tuesday’s practice session also was canceled because of poor weather.
