Okemo Mountain Resort, VT — The Pickle Barrel Nightclub, in association with Okemo Mountain Resort and Warren Miller Entertainment, will host the band Yukon Kornelius for an all-star benefit concert on Wednesday, January 9, 2008. Yukon Kornelius is anchored by Stefan Lessard, bass guitarist from the Dave Matthews Band who will be joined on stage by Ed Robertson of Barenaked Ladies and Adam Gardner of Guster. Special guests will join Yukon Kornelius such as drummer Eric Fawcett from N.E.R.D. and others. Stage and screen actor Jason Biggs will be the host for this special evening.
All proceeds from the concert will benefit charitable organizations including the Vermont & New Hampshire Food Banks and the environmental non-profit group Reverb who works to educate and engage musicians and their fans to promote environmental sustainability. "We recently noticed a story on the news about how there is a severe shortage of food at the New Hampshire Food Bank said Stefan Lessard. "The newscast showed images of empty shelves and indicated that it was the first time in history they had been forced to rely on emergency packs. We decided to try to do something to help since a group of us will be gathering in the area to ski and snowboard together. Including Reverb is a natural fit since the environment is so important to all of us and each of our bands work with Reverb to green our tours.
Stefan, Ed, Adam and Jason will all be in the region skiing and snowboarding at Okemo Mountain Resort while filming with Warren Miller Entertainment to create a segment for next year's movie. "We are excited to work with such a talented group of entertainers who share our passion for winter sports said Max Bervy, Managing Director for Warren Miller Entertainment. "The addition of the benefit concert to our on snow film schedule is something new for us and will certainly be a unique experience for those people who are able to attend!
