Big flips and spins are becoming increasingly important for riders on the Freeride World Tour, and the 2021 season raised the bar for the amplitude of tricks riders are doing off natural features. In the playful terrain of Ordino Arcalís, Andorra, and the looker’s left side of the Fieberbrunn, Austria venue, nearly every male skier and a number of women either spun a 360 or backflip during their runs. And, with a different part of the Bec de Rosses face in play this year at the Verbier Xtreme, some crazy tricks went down in very high-consequence terrain.

Every contender on the men’s ski side of things has a backflip in the top 10, but we have to give a special shout-out to the backflip queen Hedvig Wessel for cracking into the top five this year with a laid-out backy in Andorra.
