The current trend for endurance athletes is shattering fastest-known-time (FKT) records for long, hard runs. There is something to be said, however, for taking one’s time and enjoying an extended journey while traveling through nature. Especially when that journey involves some of the best backcountry skiing terrain in the U.S.

For Utah’s Wasatch Ultimate Ridge Linkup, or WURL, elite endurance runners take a little over 20 hours to complete the horseshoe-style route near Salt Lake City. Back in early March, skiers Mali Noyes and Lani Bruntz decided to ski the route over a four-day period. Along the way, they witnessed beautiful sunrises, skied nice powder, and spent a few nights in a tent weathering cold temps.

The two athletes have known each other for a long time, so their humorous banter and continuous giggles kept them in strong spirits throughout the trip. But they did face a few unexpected hardships that challenge the completion of the route along the way, making for a memorable adventure that keeps viewers engaged throughout.
