Relationship experts say you should marry someone with your same interests. A brutal 100 kilometers later, across Norway no less, this Colorado couple took that concept to the extreme.

Skiing can be a labor of love in many ways, so it’s always great to share a few turns and skin-tracks with a significant other—or a soon to be significant other. While it may not be entirely uncommon that a chance meeting on a chairlift turns into something more than a mountain friendship, we’ve certainly never heard of a chairlift relationship evolving into an exhausting 100 kilometer ski race across Norway.
Dan and Elaine Vardamis did exactly that, and our friends at Warren Miller Entertainment followed their training and their journey to race in The Expedition Amundsen in March, 2017. The couple wrote a series of essays about the race, and recapped their experience in this short film.
