Townsend is joined on this adventure by professional alpinists and guides Mark and Janelle Smiley, who have climbed 48 of the 50 peaks detailed in the classic climbing guide “The 50 Classic Climbs of North America.” While sending the classic East Face of the Middle Teton, Townsend and the Smileys talk struggles, triumphs and the mental mindset required of alpinists who set lofty goals and inherently must face the possibility of failure.
