Finally, a way to improve your skiing without leaving your couch. Tune into sportskool, the nation’s first video-on-demand (VOD) cable network devoted to sports instruction and fitness. Select skiing from a menu of pursuits, then have U.S. Ski Team phenom Bode Miller give you a lesson, with commentary by his coach, Phil McNichol. Like a DVD, VOD technology allows you to control what you watch, so you can view Bode’s World Cup win in slow-mo, focus on your “stuck-in-the-backseat” problem or follow Bode down a bump run for pointers. The best part: It’s free with certain cable packages. The bad news: It’s currently only available on the East Coast. But it may be coming soon to a TV near you.
