Loveland to Host Benefit Ski Party for the Colorado Avalanche Information Center

GEORGETOWN, CO – (News Release) – As the 2005-2006 season comes to an end it is time once again for skiers and riders who use the Colorado backcountry to celebrate another safe, successful season. This Saturday, April 22, 2006, Loveland Ski Area will host the 5th annual Corn Harvest Benefit Ski Party for the Colorado Avalanche Information Center.
The Colorado Avalanche Information Center, CAIC, promotes safety in Colorado’s backcountry by reducing the impact of avalanches on recreation, industry, and transportation in the State through a program of forecasting and education. The CAIC is a program within the Colorado Geological Survey and is supported by donations, contributions and some State money.
“If you have ever used a backcountry access gate, used the Colorado Avalanche Information Center to get a backcountry forecast or used the Colorado backcountry, you should attend this event,” said Ethan Greene, Director of the Colorado Avalanche Information Center. “But this isn’t just an event for extreme skiers and riders, the CAIC is well known as the best source for mountain weather forecasts, and promotes a safe and enjoyable mountain experience no matter how you choose to enjoy the Colorado high country.”
Last year, the event saw over 160 participants and a donation of $3000 to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center. People wishing to attend this year’s Corn Harvest Benefit Party can purchase an event ticket for $25 at Loveland Ski Area on April 22. The event includes a barbeque lunch, live music, a raffle and beer and soft drinks, with all proceeds going to benefit the CAIC. Event and lift ticket packages will also be available for $50.

Loveland Ski Area is currently offering late season pricing valid every day through the scheduled closing on May 7, 2006. Late season full day adult tickets for guests ages 15-59 are $40 and tickets for children ages 6-14 are $20.
