Located on Mammoth Lakes’ main road, Angel’s Restaurant is tasty, authentic, and not overpriced. Named after a preacher, gold miner, and cook named Henry Angel, Angel’s specializes in wood fired barbecue—try the beef brisket dinner or the BBQ ribs. We also liked the shrimp po’ boy sandwich, the sweet potato fries, and the fried macaroni and cheese with smoked pork. Most dinner plates are under $15 (or go for their $5.99 lunch special) and they have dozens of bottled beers and a good selection of local beers on tap. Five high-def televisions around the restaurant make it a good place to catch a football game after a day of skiing. They don’t take reservations so come early and be prepared to wait a while for a table.
