Two-stroke, four-stroke, any-stroke-it doesn’t matter: Snowmobiles are still fouling up the backcountry with noxious fumes. The soulful solution? Horses. Expedition skier and photographer Jimmy Chin and his equine entourage (above) recently hoofed it into the remote Mongolian backcountry to snag two first descents. In the other hemisphere, Hilaree O’Neill and Kasha Rigby loped to untouched peaks in Mercedario, Argentina. Too aggro for you?
