Who could have predicted in 2019 that face masks would go from accessories we tend to not think too much about to absolute slope necessities in 2021? Because of coronavirus, face masks will be mandated at all ski resorts across the country this season. Pandemic safety measures will require skiers to cover their mouths and noses when distances of six feet cannot be maintained (e.g. in lift lines). Which begs the question: How to cover the mouth and nose without fogging up goggles?

Enter Anon’s Magnetic Facemask Integration (MFI) technology, which allows Anon’s face masks and MFI-compatible goggles to clip together seamlessly via magnets to provide full-face coverage while preventing lens fogging. Anon’s MFI technology has been around since 2015, but the big news this season: The brand updated its bestselling men’s M4 and women’s WM3 goggles to include MFI compatibility. Both also feature Anon’s new, high-performance Perceive lens technology. It’s true what they say: Necessity is the mother of all invention. [Facemask MSRP: From $40, burton.com]
