The 2017 Armada ARW 96 is the wider of the two new ARW models from Armada, appropriate for everyday freeride duty in Western locales. At 96 mm, it’s similar in width to the powder-specific TST W (99-101 mm). But with its full-length sidecut, the ARW will be a more intuitive carver on hardpack than the tip-and-tail-tapered TST. And it costs a lot less (about $500 in many shops; $150 less than the TST W).
Armada’s ARW series of women’s all-mountain twin-tips comprises two skis, one at 96 mm, the other at 86 mm. Compared to the new Victa line, which is carvier and more directional, the ARWs offer more of a freestyle sensibility, fostering creativity with a looser, more maneuverable feel. Motto: “Turn the mountain into a playground.” A wood core gives them strength and durability, and full-length-full-height sidewalls give them edge strength. But the twin-tip tail, generous rocker at both ends, and softish flex keeps them playful and easy to pivot.
