The 2017 Dynastar Speed WC Master is as close as it gets to a true FIS-level race ski. For maximum edge power, rebound energy, and high-speed dampness, it’s built on Dynastar’s densest wood core, with two full sheets of metal, and full-length vertical sidewalls. A race-style binding plate adds stiffness and dampness and elevates the boot for maximum leverage over the edge. Truly committed beer league heroes will both Factory Team racers for their quiver-the Speed WC Master for open, GS-style courses and the Speed Zone 16 Ti for tight, turny ones.
Dynastar’s Factory Team series is a collection of elite-level high-expert skis built for the top-level performance Dynastar-sponsored athletes require in all disciplines. It includes two citizen racers (the Speed WC Master-a “cheater GS”-and the slalomesque Speed Zone 16Ti); a big, edgy, 105-mm freerider (Pro Rider); a 98-mm all-mountain jibber (Slicer Factory twin-tip), and a competition-level bumper (the 66-mm Twister). All are wood-core, vertical sidewall layups built for specialized performance, with few if any concessions to forgiveness, versatility, or ease of use.
Dynastar, along with sister brands Look, Lange, and Kerma (poles), is part of the privately owned Rossignol Group. It’s factory headquarters are in Sallanches, France, “in the shadow of Mont Blanc.” It was founded in 1963. -J.C.
