The Koa 80, with its 80-mm waist width and turny sidecut radius, is built to be a can’t-miss carver for primarily groomed-snow skiing. It’s sold only as a system, with a 10-DIN Fischer-brand binding (built by Tyrolia).
Fischer’s Koa collection of women’s specific all-mountain generalists comprises three models with waist widths of 84, 80 and 77 mm. The 84 is sold flat; the narrower two models are sold as systems only (with binding). All are built to be affordable, easy-flexing, and lightweight and are targeted at women who spend the majority of their time on-piste. The Koa 84 and Koa 80 feature Air Tec cores, in which empty channels are milled into the wood core to reduce weight. The 80 and 77 feature Fischer’s Razorshape technology: the top corners are beveled to reduce overall mass. All are metal-free, which further reduces weight and keeps them light and lively at moderate speeds. All Koas have forward mounting points, helping women to better pressure the front of the ski.
Family-owned Fischer Skis is based in Reid, Austria, where all its skis (and many of those of other brands) are built. Fischer says its factory in Reid is the second largest manufacturer of skis in the world. -J.C.
