Kästle Unveils New High Performance Freeride Ski

– Austrian ski brand,
announces the release of its fifth model for the 2008-09 ski season. The new MX108 rounds out Kästle’s recently introduced four-ski quiver, providing a ski for every skier.
“As Kästle continues to grow, so do our offerings,” states Kästle Ltd. president, Siegfried Rumpfhuber. “We want to address all skier’s needs whether big mountain, freeskiing, carving or all-mountain.”
Kästle athletes were the impetus behind the MX108 design and development. The Kästle team: Chris Davenport (USA), Hugo Harrisson (CAN), Martin Mc Fly Winkler (AUT), Sascha Schmid (CH) and Baptiste Blanc (FRA) thought a semi twin-tip would be a compliment to Kästle’s freeride model the MX98 in terrain where having a semi twin-tip is an advantage.
With a 130 mm tip, a 108 mm waist and a 120 mm tail, the MX108 advantages are increased stability at higher speeds and longer turns, as well as higher controllability in mixed and variable conditions. The MX108 features a “dual sidecut,” meaning the radius of the ski is wider in the front part and a narrower in the tail section. This model will introduce Kästle’s patented dual
reducing the mass of both the tip and tail of the ski dampening vibration, allowing faster edge transition and providing better tracking. The new MX108 features a sidewall construction, with a beech/poplar wood core and fiberglass layers.
Kästle’s complete 2008-09 line includes the RX (on-piste), the MX78 (all-mountain), the MX88 (freeride), and the MX98 (freeride-powder expert). These Kästle skis all feature a sidewall construction, an ash wood core, two layers of titanium and Kästle’s patented Hollowtech technology.
All Kästle skis will be available in North America and Europe at selected retailers this fall.
Kästle recommends using the Marker Griffon or Marker Jester binding with the MX108. MSRP paired with the Griffon bindings is $1,400 and with the Jester bindings is $1,500.
