Don’t be fooled. This is a big burly boot for big burly skiers. Are you reading this Oprah? It may be wide at 102mm but it is stiffer than its 95 moniker would suggest. Tecnica says it wanted its new wide boot to retain the core DNA found in its narrower performance boots but with a roomier interior for the higher volume foot and leg. Our women’s test team pounded this boot everywhere on the hill and it indeed performed with power to spare. It is a solid all-mountain machine for good skiers with wide feet, high instep volume and muscular calves. Our testers gave multiple check marks to the new, well-shaped and cushioned liner. It combines with the new shell to provide a wider, squared-off toebox shape and more contoured ankle area. So while the boot is indeed strong, it won’t collapse under pressure and it has a softer, pleasant nature—tough and cuddly like a kung fu panda. Tester Comments: “Powered through the crud, performed flawlessly on groomed.” “Flex felt accurate. Movements transferred directly to the skis.”
