Tyrolia reports that it has become the number-one binding brand worldwide. The Free Flex, Free Flex Plus, and Power Select suspension systems will all return for next season, and the Free Flex bridge has been improved. The highly successful SuperLight (SL) toe will also perform an encore. Still a cornerstone of Tyrolia’s binding technology is Diagonal release in both toes and heels. In the toe pieces, Diagonal release comes in two versions: Race Diagonal and Full Diagonal. Full Diagonal releases vertically, diagonally, and side-to-side; Race Diagonal offers tighter coupling. All toe pieces but one use the Anti-Blocking System (ABS) AFD, which looks like a little conveyor belt and is said to be practically unaffected by adverse environmental conditions. Each adult binding comes with one of two heels: The Diagonal heel or the non-diagonal SL 100.
Racing Series
Returning is the Free Flex Plus suspension system, an enhanced version of the regular Free Flex that appears in the Carve series. Free Flex Plus adds a dampening device which is said to increase snow contact. The Free Flex Plus 10 (6-17) uses the Race Diagonal Toe, while the Free Flex Plus 8 (3.5-12) and Free Flex Plus 7 (3-11) use the Full Diagonal toe. All three bindings use the Diagonal heel.
Freeride Series
The Freeride series is made up of Power Select bindings, both of which incorporate the Free Flex system. Power Select has three settings that allow skiers to change the way the ski meets the snow, allowing the skier to increase, decrease, or not affect the ski’s camber. The Power Select Freeride 8 (3.5-12) uses the Diagonal heel, ABS AFD, and the Race Heel Lever. Next is the Power Select Freeride 9 (4-14), which adds the Race Diagonal toe.
Carve Series
Tyrolia has improved the Free Flex technology at the core of the Carve collection by hinging the Free Flex bridge, a modification which is said to allow the ski to bend even better than before. The Cyber SL 110 (3-11) is the lightest Free Flex binding. It combines a non-Diagonal heel with the SuperLight toe. The Cyber D8 SX (3.5-12) uses the Aero Diagonal toe and a Diagonal heel. Stepping up to the Cyber D9 SX (4-14) gets skiers the Race Diagonal toe.
Performance Series
In the Performance series, the SL 100 ABS (3-10)¿a binding Tyrolia calls its most successful product launch in the last decade¿returns for its third year. Customers who jump up to the SL 100 Carve ABS (3-10) get a 10-mm Carve Flex plate. The TD 8 TS (3.5-12) brings the Diagonal heel into the mix and uses the 10 mm T-Shock Absorber plate.
Lifters
The super lightweight 9 mm Carve Plate 9 SL; the 13 mm Carve Plate 13 SL, which adds the T-Shock Absorber; the 15 mm Triple Dampening Speed Plate; and the Triple Dampening 23 mm Carve Plate 23X are all available as after-market items.
