Wolf Creek Ski Area to Open this Weekend
As Mother Nature blankets Colorado after a big storm, the family owned ski area near Pagosa Springs is excited to announce they're opening this weekend.

We know it’s only October, but the 2018-2019 ski season in North America has already begun! This weekend, pending any unforeseen issues, Colorado’s Wolf Creek Ski Area will be the first ski resort in the country to open this season.
After a storm passed through this area, it left an all-natural settled base of 14 inches at the midway. Wolf Creek will open the Treasure, Bonanza, and the Nova Lifts for weekends only until conditions allow full-time operation.
After a busy summer of improvements mountain wide, Wolf Creek is ready to start this new ski season. The warm, dry summer days at Wolf Creek allowed for the progress of constructing a new high-speed detachable quad chairlift for this new season.
The new Charity Chairlift—formerly known as the Meadow Lift—is now the tenth lift in Wolf Creek’s current system, and will become the third lift in the Alberta Area. The new addition is a high-speed, detachable quad chairlift benefiting all ability levels of skiers and boarders.
This season, beginner and intermediate skiers will have 55 new acres of terrain available to them, and advanced skiers and riders will now have an easier way to get from the Knife Ridge and Horseshoe Bowl area to the Alberta and Elma Lifts.
Charity Chair was renamed to honor Charity Jane Pitcher, who was the past owner of Wolf Creek Ski Area. As well as adding the Charity Chair, Wolf Creek has finished up some touches on the Lynx Lift and in the Interpretive Center.
Wolf Creek is also celebrating its first year anniversary of going solar. In November, 2018, Wolf Creek took a big step in becoming the first solar powered ski area.
