My parents love to tell strangers in the lift line they had me on skis before my second birthday. I’m grateful (and lucky), but I also have no recollection of initially learning how to ski. And, despite the fact that skiing has shaped my entire life, I’m still learning—I’ve taken steep-skiing workshops, online ski courses, backcountry safety courses, women’s clinics … I even went to summer ski camp on Mount Hood, where 12-year-olds helped me bash gates and hit the BIG jumps (I was terrified). Mostly, what I learned about skiing is how much I still don’t know.

That’s why I have so much respect for skiers who come to the sport later in life; I’m inspired by the joy and determination they bring to it despite knowing how hard it can be.

It’s also why I’m so excited to announce that SKI’s in-depth online instructional courses are now available to Outside+ members as part of the newly launched Outside LEARN. Looking to master bump skiing? Check out Bump Like Plake with Glen Plake. Find powder skiing exhausting and frustrating? Wendy Fisher can help. Tree skiing have you vexed? Daron Rahlves can fix that.

Those are just a few of the courses now live on LEARN—not to mention all the courses produced by our sister titles like BackpackerClimbing, and Yoga Journal—where more are added monthly. Skiing is a life-long sport, which means there’s always something new to learn. With Outside LEARN, actually learning it is easier than ever. Get started now.

Happy skiing,
