221 South Oak If you’re going to order shellfish and exotic seafood in a remote box canyon in the Rocky Mountains, you want to know it was flown-in fresh and prepared with care. At 221 South Oak, you can order easy, knowing owner/chef Eliza Gavin—trained at France’s Le Cordon Bleu and seasoned in New Orleans and Napa Valley—takes the utmost care to prepare only the freshest and highest quality dishes that blend international cuisines. If it’s not fresh, it’s not on the menu, which changes daily and offers diverse dishes from local game (hazelnut crusted Colorado rack of lamb, $37) to Creole comforts (grouper with barbequed shrimp, $30). The intimate, converted historic home is within earshot of the gondola, so Wednesday’s $10 Martinis & Mussels are a great après option. Or power up before hitting the slopes on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. when the bistro serves bloodies, benedicts and beignets. 221 South Oak Street, Downtown Telluride, 970-728-9507
