We get dozens of letters each fall asking where the best early-season skiing is. Which resort is most likely to have good snow by December 1? Where should I book my holiday ski vacation? Finally, we have some answers.
In this early-season vacation planner, skiingmag.com contributor Tony Crocker has compiled snowfall results over a period of many years and has compiled a list of factors that affect early-season snow conditions as well as the North American resorts most likely to have good, reliable early-season snow.
Keep in mind, this is just a primer. These are not predictions. These are not guesses. There’s no guarantee that any of these resorts will have snow during your vacation, and SKIING is in no way responsible for you spending your trip at the ski tuner’s, trying to repair the gouge the boulder took out of your brand new boards. This is simply information collected with the intent of creating a list of the resorts most likely to have good, skiable early-season snow.
