After six years of planning, the ski area this year received Forest Service approval for a major expansion including five lifts, 733 acres of new ski terrain and three restaurants. But in August the Town of Telluride and the San Miguel County Commission raised concerns about quality-of-life issues, including employee housing, parking and transportation. The ski area was hopeful of reaching agreements with both agencies, but environmental groups may still attempt to stall the project through possible legal action.
