Killington, Vt. Feb. 3, 2004 (PR) — For one week during February, all things Cajun arrive at Killington Resort for a Mardi Gras celebration complete with beads, jambalaya and Zydeco music. The 8th annual Mardi Gras Ball at the Wobbly Barn Steakhouse and Nightclub highlights the festivities of Feb. 22-27, 2004.
“The Mardi Gras Ball at the Wobbly has always been an event that draws a crowd,” said Jason Evans, manager of the Wobbly Barn. “With the Cajun food and music, plus the crowning of king and queen, the spirit of Mardi Gras is taken very seriously. The zany costumes and need for beads keeps the fun coming and makes for quite a memorable evening.”
On Fat Tuesday, Feb. 24, the night of the Wobbly Barn Mardi Gras Ball, guests can head to the Mahogany Ridge Bar in the Killington Base Lodge. Music, mask making and giveaways will occur giving guests an opportunity to prepare an alter identity for the coming Wobbly Barn Ball where costumes are required along with an $8 cover charge.
Prior to the Ball, the Wobbly Barn Steakhouse will offer up Cajun tastes straight from the Bayou including jambalaya, e’touffee, crawdads, Cajun catfish, and gumbo. Doors open at 8:00 p.m. for the Wobbly Barn Mardi Gras Ball and guests must be 21 years of age or older to attend. Music from the Zydeco band “Mango Jam” will set the tune for the Ball’s Mardi Gras Parade, King Cake ceremony and general tomfoolery.
Throughout the week guests can win prizes for being spotted skiing or riding with Mardi Gras beads. Killington staff are scattered across the mountain handing out beads to increase the weeks’ festive feel.
Mardi Gras week ski and stay packages are available starting at $349 per person for five nights of lodging and five days of skiing or riding. To enjoy the Killington Fat Tuesday experience guests may also take advantage of Killington’s midweek three days skiing and three nights lodging for the price of two deal, where the third day and night are free. Guests may find information and reservations for this and other theme weeks through Killington Central Reservations at (800) 621-MTNS or by visiting killington.com.
