1. Whiteface, N.Y.
“Long and challenging. The Slides are rough, wild, and wooly! Whiteface’s proximity to Lake Placid and all it offers are second to none for dining, off-mountain activities, lodging, and nightlife.”
2. Smuggler’s Notch, Vt.

“Great getaway for family. Smuggs has plenty of both ski and non-ski activities to keep everyone busy all week long. Nearby towns exude local New England charm.”
3. Jay Peak, Vt.

“While the resort upgrades and non-ski activities have been a substantial boost for Jay Peak, the snow, terrain, and tree-skiing are second to none in the East. Much of the rustic New England charm remains intact at this out of the way resort. “
4. Tremblant, Quebec

“We loved the village at Tremblant, shopping, the après-ski, the variety of trails. It was a lot of fun.”
5. Stowe, Vt.

“Stowe Mountain Resort has the best combination of desirable attributes for skiers and their families in the East. First, of course, tons of snow. Second most importantly, an efficient trail and lift system. But, off the mountain is where Stowe really shines. It’s a charming Vermont village with great restaurants, hotels, and lodges.”
6. Loon, N.H.
“Loon is a solid mountain, located in a quaint New England town. Plenty of lodging, restaurants, and things to do.”
7. Holiday Valley, N.Y.

“Ellicotville is referred to as the Aspen of the East, and for good reason. It’s obviously way smaller but between Holiday, Hollimont and the town of Ellicottville it truly has a big town, big resort feel.”
8. Sugarbush, Vt.
“The Bush is an iconic mountain with narrow, twisty steeps, backcountry and glades as well as wide open groomers. Warren and Waitsfield are great towns with great food and brews.”
9. Stratton, Vt.

“Stratton is a great mountain for all ages. It’s family friendly, there is plenty to do on and off the slopes.”
10. Seven Springs, Pa.

“Seven Springs is not just a ski resort. It is truly a four-season resort, with an abundance of activities, shops, bars, and restaurants. There are many activities for our children to do whether it is on the slopes or inside at the pool, roller skating, arcade etc.”
