With nearly 3,000 skiable acres way north in Idaho’s chimney, sprawling Schweitzer has all of the terrain with none of the crowds. If that sounds as good to you as it does to us, make your way out there this winter for plenty of intermediate terrain dappled with serious steeps (and chutes in Outback Bowl), great tree-skiing, and kid-magnet zones such as the Enchanted Forest. The lifts are slow (er, old-fashioned), but the views of sparkling Lake Pend Oreille give the Tahoe areas a reason to be nervous.

WHAT’S NEW
The 2019-’20 season will be big for Schweitzer, including two lifts that will go in during the summer of 2019, so stay tuned for that. In the meantime, the ski area partners with service provider Intermax for improved bandwidth throughout the resort.
