No plans yet for the Y2K Millennium? Well if the world is going to end what better way to spend it than carving turns at a ski area and singing Auld Lang Syne, as you shush down the slopes.
Well, a few areas will be open at midnight on the 31st so you can ski your way into the next millennium:
Squaw Valley, CAThe steeps of Olympic Valley will help you forget the hype of the Y2K bug. Squaw will have the cable car and terrain parks open until 1 am. and fireworks at midnight at the Broken Arrow. Lift tickets are $20 from 4 pm to 1 am. For more information call 800-545-4350.
Mammoth Mountain, CAParty like its 1999, because Mammoth will have all lighted runs open on Thunder Mountain Express, plus a bonfire and live music. Lift tickets are $20 from 4 pm to 12:30 am. For more information call 888-4-MAMMOTH.
Greek Peak, NYWelcome in the New Year with an ox roast, fireworks, live music, and skiing ’til 1A.M. You can purchase the entire event package for $45 or a lift ticket from 5 pm to 1 am will run ya $38. For more information call: 800-955-2754.
Hawksnest, NCEvery weekend Hawksnest is open for late night skiers and the Y2K Millennium is no exception. You can ski for $25 from 4:30 until 2 am. For more information call: 800-822-4259.
Snowshoe, WVSnowshoe has tons of snow right now and they will be ringing in the new year with on mountain parties and skiing until 1 am. Tickets are $26. For more information call: 304-572-1000.
