Spring Snowstorm Covers Colorado
Nearly every resort in Colorado got substantial spring snow this week, including Aspen and Copper who both received 16 inches in 48 hours.

DENVER, CO – March 24, 2009 –
A spring storm roared into Colorado early Monday morning, showering Colorado’s high country with mounds of snow in time for spring ski deals and events. Nearly every Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA) resort received new snow in the last 48 hours, with Aspen and Copper boasting as much as 16 inches each.
Colorado’s mountains have been blasted by the lingering storm system. Southern Colorado fared particularly well, with Silverton receiving 14 inches of new snow and Monarch getting 13 inches. Powderhorn and Wolf Creek each enjoyed 12 inches thus far from the storm, which continues to deliver. The new snow brings Wolf Creek’s season total up to 367 inches.
“March is a busy month in Colorado ski country. Events and discounts appeal to skiers, but nothing speaks to them as much as the major snow that we have seen over the last several days,” explains Melanie Mills, President and CEO of Colorado Ski Country USA.
Eleven inches at Telluride will help get skiers and riders to take advantage of that mountain’s spring lift-ticket discounts. Loveland also received 11 inches and Sunlight has netted 10 inches in the past two days.
Steamboat received 7 inches, just in time for the NASTAR National Championship race event, which Steamboat will host starting this Thursday. Ski Cooper saw 7 inches drop as well, which will help to brighten up that resort’s annual Easter Egg Hunt taking place this weekend.
Winter Park is relishing its 6.5 inches of winter wealth and A-Basin was happy to see 6 inches cover its terrain in just less than two days.
The storm left no stone unturned, dropping 4 inches on Crested Butte and blanketing Eldora, Sol Vista, and Purgatory. Echo Mountain also received just enough white to prepare for its Salomon Jib Acadamy, a global freeski tour of young athletes coming to Echo this weekend.
The recent storm helps usher in several other upcoming events this weekend: Powderhorn is hosting its SlushSprocket Annual Bike Race, where cyclists try their best to traverse a course on snow; Loveland kicks off its Subaru Master the Mountain event this weekend, offering lessons, demos, and other fun activities; and Aspen makes the most of its prolific snow total with its Helly Hansen Battle of the Bowls competition.
