The latest addition to the Park City area’s hotel scene, Newpark Resort, is also its greenest. Newpark offers space, convenience, style… and with its distinguished LEED-ND certification for environmentally responsible development, it also offers do-gooder cred. LEED-ND is a special designation given to developments that incorporate the principles of New Urbanism—namely, walkability, density of living spaces and amenities like shops and restaurants, public transit access, and a mix of accommodations at all levels of affordability. Newpark has all these attributes in spades, and it also delivers on decor and amenities. The hotel boasts an elegant, modern lobby with soaring granite and glass walls and expansive mountain views. The rooms are insanely spacious, with an entry hallway that invites foot races (Um, just kidding… we totally didn’t do that), gorgeous bathrooms with sunken tubs, stylish glass fireplaces, and even private hot tubs on the balconies. After a long day on the slopes, tired skiers can treat themselves to dinner at one of the six restaurants at Newpark Town Center, or catch a movie at the on-site theater. There’s even a Whole Foods a short walk away, where you can grab groceries and cook up a feast back at the condo. The proximity of all these amenities makes Newpark a great bet for families, and since the local transit buses run like clockwork, you’re guaranteed easy access to the slopes. But there’s one caveat about the location of Newpark: It’s not in Park City proper. It’s actually right off I-80, a 15-minute drive from the lifts. So, if you’re looking to ski out of your condo, or to be within stumbling distance of the Park City bar scene, keep looking. However, if you’re in the market for a stylish, green hotel that offers space and amenities at an excellent value, Newpark will be just your speed. Thinking of staying at Newpark? Maybe this offer will help you make up your mind. From December through April, Newpark’s “Stay and Ski” package gives you your fourth night of lodging and fourth day’s lift tickets free. Offer valid 12/04/2010 through 12/17/2010; 01/26/2011 – 01/30/2011; and 03/26/2011 – 04/10/2011.
