Tamarack Puts Finishing Touches on Resort

Donnelly, ID – (Press Release) – Tamarack Resort is on track for the opening of its second season on November 23 with the near completion of two new lifts, ten new runs, and expanded snowmaking.
Lifts:
Helicopter and ground crews have just finished installation of the lift towers and cross beams for the new, mile-long Wildwood Express detachable quad and the fixed-grip Whitewater quad.
Runs:
Accessible via the Wildwood Express is the new Wildwood Pod terrain featuring 1,700 vertical feet of northern aspect skiing on 140 acres, with four new runs and gladed tree skiing. The four new Wildwood runs, Tamarack, La Bamba, Hoo-Ya and Enigma, are near completion with final revegetation work remaining. Six other new runs, including two in the Canoe Pod—accessible from the Tamarack Summit Express—and four more in the Wildwood pod, are expected to be completed by opening day.
The fact that Tamarack is now a two-pod mountain elevates its status as a major US destination ski resort. Skiers now have access to two totally different exposures—northern and eastern—with completely different snow conditions and great views of both Payette Lake and Lake Cascade. What’s more, the expert terrain has greatly increased to feature extreme bowls and gladed tree runs.
Snowmaking: Tamarack Resort has substantially increased its snowmaking capabilities by adding coverage on the lower part of 11 major runs. Tamarack CEO and President Jean-Pierre Boespflug says the resort will fire up the guns as soon as it is cold enough to make and retain snow. “We plan to ski from Thanksgiving to Mother’s Day, said Boespflug.
On the Nordic front, a snowmaking system has been installed on a 5K Nordic loop through Tamarack’s sweeping meadow, making the resort one of only two areas with Nordic snowmaking in the West.
