Boulder, CO Mar. 16-When the folks at Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA) asked me if I wanted to try skiing 24 resorts in four days, I jumped at the chance like Homer Simpson jumps for doughnuts.
The idea sparked from a bet between three of CSCUSA staff members who were competing to see who could ski the most Colorado resorts this winter. CSCUSA president, John Frew, caught wind of the bet and put together what became known as “the Ultimate Road Trip,” a journey to ski 24 Colorado resorts in four days.
This rendition of March Madness took eight powder-jonesing souls on a sleep-deprived jaunt that criss-crossed the Colorado Rockies. When asked why ski 24 resorts in four days, Frew answered, “because we can.”
The team consisted of myself and:
Former head of Winter Park and ski industry legend, Jerry Groswold,
Vice President of Winter Park Resort and former chair of the CSCUSA Board of Trustees, Sherry Shelton,
CSCUSA President John Frew,
CSCUSA Marketing Director Charlie Mayfield,
CSCUSA Communications Manager Kristin Rust,
CSCUSA Marketing Manager Fred Fischer,
Denver Post journalist, Scott WilloughbyWith ravenous appetites for turns, we all joined forces to tackle this otherwise impossible venture. Day One
