…Matt Berkowitz, winner of Attitash’s first annual Spread Eagle World Championship this past February. The event-approved, but definitely not endorsed, by the FIS-allowed only old-school tricks (no inverts or grabs) and called for flashy neon garb. After a medley of daffies, back scratchers, and twists, Berkowitz, 25, cemented his victory with a 360 Screamin’ Seaman (it’s essentially a double daffy with legs crossed), but he shrugs off his triumph. “It wasn’t about winning,” says Berkowitz, who manages the Fischer Freestyle Team. “But I have been practicing since I was nine years old.”
