On a cold winter day, as the snow piles up on the eves of the 19th century West Hill House, this Warren, Vermont bed and breakfast buzzes with life. After a day of skiing, enjoy coffee, tea, hot chocolate and homemade chocolate chip cookies from the kitchen. Sink into the comfortable chairs in one of the three cozy common rooms and you may forget that you aren’t in your own living room. Later on, sample local wines from Vermont’s East Shore Vineyard: Cabernet Franc, Traminette, and Frontenac Rose. Resident cats Smoky and Snowball will ease your pet-sick heart, while the friendly innkeepers Susan and Peter MacLaren enjoy telling you about things to do in and around the Sugarbush area. Choose the ski-themed Mountain Room for its cozy, pine floors, hand-sewn quilt, and king-sized bed. Old ski posters and photos will make any skier feel at home. The private bathroom has a double Jacuzzi tub and corner shower. In the morning, enjoy a delicious three-course breakfast and fresh-brewed Green Mountain Coffee. While the West Hill House does not serve dinner regularly, a bistro meal or candlelit dinner (for 6 or more) is available upon request.
Deal: book a two-night stay at West Hill House and receive discounted dinner at the nearby Common Man Restaurant.
