East Burke, VT, Oct. 18, 2000–Burke Mountain Academy Headmaster Kirk Dwyer announced this week that Dick Andross, mountain manager at Cannon Mountain, N.H., will take charge of running Burke Mountain this season. Andross, who worked at Cannon for five years and spent 10 at Loon Mountain, N.H., will be splitting duties at Burke and Cannon for the next month as Cannon looks for a successor.

The Lisbon, N.H., native will oversee all mountain operations as general manager for Burke 2000 LLC, which was formed to purchase the bankrupt ski area to ensure that at least the training hill would be open to BMA students this winter. A special season pass sale is currently taking place to raise fundsto open the entire mountain to the public.
