Whistler/Blackcomb, B.C. April 23, 2001–You can take the Battle of the Ski Schools out of the Vail Valley in Colorado, but you can’t take Vail and Beaver Creek out of the Battle of the Ski Schools. The team from Beaver Creek came to defend their title in the open division, while the women’s team from Vail came to defend their title in the women’s division. For three days, April 19-21, 2001, 25 teams from eight different nations fought it out in Whistler’s Glacier Bowl for top honors in the fourteenth annual Battle of the Ski Schools.
The three day event featured five demonstration passes utilizing all eight members of the team, a head to head single elimination team dual giant slalom relay with four members of each team participating, and an air pairs competition with two members going off a single jump to finish the competition.
