GOOD THING HE DIDN’T HAVE A CARLOAD OF PRUNES
The big avalanche story on the Internet in January went something like this: Richard Kral was driving through Slovakia’s Tatra Mountains when an avalanche released above him, burying him in his Audi. Kral began digging his way out, but realized his efforts would prove fruitless. Then, a moment of clarity: Being a vacationing Slovak, Kral was transporting 60 half-liter bottles of beer in the backseat. The epiphany? Suck down a bottle, pee on some snow, dig, repeat. Rescuers reportedly found him stumbling along a nearby path-with a wicked double kidney ache. (NOTE: SKIING’S CRACK INTERN SQUAD WAS UNABLE TO CONFIRM THIS ANECDOTE, BUT WE STILL LIKE IT. )
