Blackcomb Open Until June 3

WHISTLER, BC – (News Release) — Whistler Blackcomb is pleased to announce Blackcomb Mountain will remain open until June 3 while upgrades take place on Whistler’s Village Gondola beginning April 23.

“With this year’s record snowfall hitting nearly 43 feet, spring skiing and boarding on Blackcomb Mountain will be fantastic, says Bob DuFour, Vice President of Mountain Operations for Whistler Blackcomb. “And it’s a bonus that the park will be open longer than usual.

Blackcomb’s Highest Level Terrain Park, Nintendo Terrain Park and the Super Pipe will remain open until May 21. Riders will access the Super Pipe via the Catskinner chair and hike in between laps.

Spring shredders can now get unlimited skiing and riding this spring for $99 with the purchase of a five day Edge Card for next season. Any Edge Cards purchased at the early bird price of $279.99 before April 30, 2007 will receive five days for the 2007/08 winter season, and additional bonus deals, including an option for unlimited skiing/riding this spring for only $99 more. Riders with an early-bird Edge Card will also receive one free Summer 2007 Peak Adventure and one free 2007 early winter season day (valid before Dec. 21, 2007). The early bird spring special is available to residents of Canada and Washington State.

Skiers and riders not eligible for the Edge Card can set themselves up with the SPF Spring Pass for $379 — which includes the first two weeks of summer glacier skiing free, June 4—17, 2007.

SPRING/SUMMER RIDING
The last day for Whistler Mountain operations and the Creekside base is April 22. Spring operations will continue on Blackcomb Mountain from April 23 – June 3, 2007 with access via the Excalibur Gondola and Excelerator chair only. Blackcomb hours of operation from April 23-May 21 are 9am-4pm. Starting May 22, the mountain will be open from 10 am to 4 pm with no further access to the terrain park or Catskinner chair.

Blackcomb’s summer skiing and boarding on Horstman Glacier runs from June 4 to July 29 with access from the Wizard Express and Solar Coaster.

The Whistler Mountain Bike Park is open from May 19, 2007 to October 8, 2007.

SIGHTSEEING
Summer adventurers who want to experience Blackcomb Mountain’s world-class hikes, majestic glaciers and wildlife from June 4 to July 29 can take the Excalibur Gondola to the Excelerator chair and walk to Glacier Creek.

The Whistler Village Gondola and Peak Chair are scheduled to re-open from June 30, 2007. Sightseeing access via the Village Gondola and Peak Chair will run daily until Sunday, September 23, and then weekends only until Thanksgiving Monday, October 8.
