Both Coasts Hit with Snow

Boulder, CO, Oct. 30, 2000–If the amount of early-season snowstorms that have occurred all over the country give any prediction of the winter to come, we’re in for a great one. With recent storms on both coasts, blanketing the Sierras in the west and much of Maine in the east, it appears that old man winter is about to unleash his fury.
Thanks to this weekend’s storm, some ski resorts around Lake Tahoe, California received four to six inches of snow at their base areas. Squaw Valley U.S.A. reported over two feet on the upper mountain, bringing their summit total close to four feet and prepping them for their opening date on November 18.
Maine resorts also felt a step closer to opening with the snowstorms that hit them over the weekend. A dusting of two inches blanketed Sunday River Ski Resort, while Sugarloaf U.S.A. still relishes in a storm that dumped 16 inches at the base and 24 inches on the summit.
