In mountain towns culture often arrives as an annual event. Jackson’s taste of intellectualism descends from June 5 through June 8 at the 5th Annual Jackson Hole Film Festival. And, with more than 100 films representing 30 countries, countless red-carpet events, 12 world premieres, the 2008 Global Insight Summit and a welcome address by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, it’s easy to get over-stimulated by all the cinematic hoopla.

Yet, even with such an inspiring selection of happenings, our favorite genre will have its moment in the festival spotlight. As presenting sports-action sponsor of the festival, Cloudveil reminds JHFF attendees who ski, surf and ride that these three marquee events should not be missed:

Pro Athlete Autograph Open House

Sunday, June 8, 2PM at the Cloudveil Flagship store

Exchange shakas and high-fives with international action-sport stars Tanner Hall, Tommy Moe, Resi Stiegler and Travis Rice. Then get your poster, Polaroid or bare skin inked by one of these talented icons.

Sneak Peak Screening of Water Man

Sunday, June 8, 3PM at the Center for the Arts

Take a boat trip deep into surf culture with some of the most influential watermen of our time. Laird Hamilton, Gerry Lopez, Rob Machado and Dave Kalama, as well as the Malloy Brothers, find perfect waves and get shacked in Indo. Don’t miss this advance screening of an epic body-, paddle- and tow-surfing trip to paradise.

Q & Ale presented by Cloudveil, Studio 411, Oakley and Anheuser-Busch

Sunday, June 8, 4PM at the Cloudveil Flagship store

Arrive early for free imported beer and stay for this forum on the current state of action-sport filmmaking. Ask industry brand managers, independent producers, film distributors and onscreen athletes how it works, how they get funded and how they get it done. The panel includes seven-time X Games gold medalist Tanner Hall, Water Man athlete Laird Hamilton, Water Man producer Jane Kachmer, 199 Lives director Gregg Godfrey, Video Action Sports president Michael Lythcott, Oakley’s Pat McIvan and Kicking It director/producer Susan Koch.
