Copper Mountain, CO Feb. 3, 2004 — Copper Mountain Resort kicks off its fourth annual Freeride Series this weekend, providing skiers and snowboarders with an opportunity to compete in a variety of freeride-inspired events. Presented by Shell, men and women competitors will vie for a total of $10,000 in cash and prizes while competing in Snowboardcross, Skiercross, Halfpipe, Slopestyle and Jibfest events. The following is a schedule of events for the Copper Mountain Freeride Series:
February 7 Snowboardcross (snowboarders only)
February 8 Skiercross (skiers only)
March 6 Jibfest
March 13 Halfpipe
March 14 Slopestyle
Those interested in participating in the series may register on the day of each event from 8 to 9 a.m. Registration will be held at Jack’s Slopeside Grill, located in Copper One Lodge in The Village at Copper. Entry fee is $30 for the snowboardcross and skiercross events and $25 per event for the jibfest, halfpipe and slopestyle events. Special racers’ lift tickets are available for $29. All events begin at 10 a.m. following a mandatory rider briefing at the top of the course at 9:45 a.m. Helmets are required in all events. An awards ceremony will take place in the Burning Stones Plaza immediately following the end of each competition.
