Copper Mountain Opens For Season

Copper, CO Nov 5, 2004 – Copper Mountain will open to the public for the winter season Friday, Nov. 5 offering 2,300 vertical feet of top-to-bottom skiing and riding, nearly 60 acres of terrain and 20 inches of man-made and natural snow. Three lifts, the American Eagle, Excelerator and Easy Rider, will offer direct access to beginner, intermediate and expert terrain.

“We’re looking to have the best opening weekend we’ve seen in several years,” said Mike Unruh, Copper’s director of mountain operations. “We’re only able to open all of this terrain because of the hard work, dedication and pride of the Copper team and, of course, with a little help from Mother Nature.”

Race teams from around the country have been training on the mountain since Saturday, Oct. 23, but Friday is the first day of the season skiing and riding will be made available to the general public. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, skiers and riders will have access to the Ptarmigan Trail, located on the upper portion of the mountain, serviced by the Excelerator lift; and Rhapsody and Main Vein trails, serviced by the American Eagle lift. Due to race training, the Copperopolis trail will be closed to the public.

Jibbers also can session the resort’s jib park, located adjacent to Solitude Station at the top of the American Eagle lift. Six features will be available and more will be added in the coming weeks. Opening weekend lift ticket prices are $49 for adults and $29 for children.

For those still wishing to purchase a Rocky Mountain Super Pass, they are still available but time is limited. The pass, which gives skiers and riders unlimited access to Copper Mountain and Winter Park Resort all season long, is on sale for $329 for adults (ages 19 and older); $129 for children (ages 6 to 13); with the Teen Pass (ages 14 to 18) available for $169 through Nov. 28. After that date, the Super Pass will no longer be available at any price. Copper Mountain adult season passes (ages 19 and over) with no restrictions can be purchased for $279, and children’s passes (ages 6-13) for $129. After Nov. 28, Copper Mountain season passes will still be available, but at a higher rate of $695 for adults and $395 for children.
