Copper Mountain, CO Nov. 1, 2003 — Copper Mountain opened to the public for the winter season today. Although race teams from around the country have been training on the mountain since October 24, this was be the first time skiing and riding was made available to the general public.

From 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. skiers and riders had access to the Ptarmigan Trail, located on the upper portion of the mountain. The Copperopolis trail opened to the public at mid-day. Skiing and riding was limited to the top half of the mountain, accessible via the American Eagle lift.

The resorts’ jib park also opened, temporarily located adjacent to Solitude Station at the top of the American Eagle lift. Five features were added this weekend and more will be added in the coming weeks. Snow and colder temperatures are predicted throughout the coming days which should allow the resort to open additional terrain as conditions permit.
