Thompsonville, MI, April 11, 2001–This winter was one of the best ski seasons in over a decade for Michigan resorts. One of the state’s resorts, Crystal Mountain near Thompsonville, saw several records topple.

On December 29, Crystal hosted 5,000 skiers on its slopes, an all-time, one-day best. Closing last Sunday, April 8 with over 200,000 skier visits for the season, was the latest ending date the resort has ever had, plus the latest closing with 100 percent of the downhill and cross country trails still covered with snow.

But perhaps the most impressive record set this ski season at Crystal is for the total number of French fries sold – 2,817,120. The new mark represents over 7,512 fries for each foot of (the 375-foot) vertical drop on Crystal Mountain.
